What does Vermont have in common with small countries invaded by the US?  Unmanned drones.  Millions of dollars worth, keeping crops, people, backyards and homes under surveillance.  Drones like the ones in these pictures have been seen  flying over Vermont.   Using airborne evidence, the State Police sometimes make a follow-up visit to determine exactly what a crop is, as has happened in Addison County.  As the Addison Independent has printed, the police produced no warrant.  In spite of the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees our rights against warrantless searches and seizures.  This discovery has emerged in the wake of surveillance cameras recently deployed in Burlington, Rutland and smaller towns.  A multi-...
For the record, incumbent Sen. Claire Ayer (D-Addison) cast the swing vote to allow Entergy to store its nuclear waste on-site. This action helped keep the aging plant profitable. I call it Corporate Welfare: Vermonters assume the risk and some of Entergy’s cost of doing business, and a corporation walks away with greater profits. Sen. Ayer. knowingly disregards the wishes of her constituents, and defers to “experts” backed by corporate money. When money talks, we have no representation. Contact Ayer and ask her! Why, Claire, why? Shouldn’t your constituents be your first priority? You didn’t show up to both community forums during the elections, when your people had urgent questions for you on this and other issues. Addison County needs a...
2012 saw the advancement of numerous candidates for our Liberty here in Vermont, standing for Legislative office... where the power is:  Teo Zagar, Tom Burditt & Ben Eastwood, Tim Ryan, Paul Dame, Dexter Lefavour, Scott Ranney, Dick Tracy and many others. Teo & Tom were re-elected; others had a strong first- or second-time showing: http://www.vpr.net/news/campaign_2012/races/ Thank you kindly for your strong support and confidence this election season. You know that I regard our Legislative seats as belonging to US, the People… not parties, super-PACS; nor the career politicians sitting in those seats. That’s why I run as an Independent. Thanks to you I have shot up to 18%, with no money spent. Vote count has tripled to 5,074 (up...
This flyer is all over Addison County, Huntington & Buel's Gore... Our Senate District. Let's get Vermont out of the hands of the corporations currently running our State, through their proxies in Montpelier.  Vote 'em out!   For more info, please see SenatorWagner.com     Jobs A return to the principles of Liberty will create better-paying jobs and reduce greatly the need for social services. Our freedom to organize in the workplace must be protected. Social services staff and day care workers are better paid in a vibrant economy with real opportunities. I oppose job creation spending, which benefits Wall Street & sends jobs out of VT. Health Care We must create a public option, and...
Received an eMail (below) from the Vermont Public Interest Research Group (VPIRG)... don't know why I'm on their mailing list, but I think we used to contribute.   Now I'm telling this to anybody I know: don't give them your hard earned cash!  While they may have done good work at one time, VPIRG are now acting as a propaganda arm of the Military-Industrial Complex, promoting the interests of one of the world's worst arms dealers.  They're getting plenty from out-of-State to pursue their sellout agenda. That arms dealer is Lockheed Martin, whose subsidiary Sandia Labs has been given a monopoly over smart-grid and smart-meter technology.  You can get the skinny on smart meters on my site and on Consumers Digest, but if undecided I...
Just as Vermont cuts the budget at the expense of our Vets, Teachers, Seniors, the less fortunate and especially the middle class (corporations get away tax-free), they’re sinking a lot of money into tasers, drones, surveillance cameras and vans, and two new armories. Why? Are they expecting massive civil disobedience, or unrest? Are they mishandling Vermont’s finances so badly up in Montpelier, that they need to set the police on unarmed, peaceful demonstrators in Burlington? What do they know, that they’re not telling us? What can you do? Contact your State rep and senator and demand to know why! Contact them and demand a moratorium on police taser usage in Vermont. Contact your Selectmen and demand an ordinance against police taser...
Part II of III   It's time for Libertarians, Conservatives & Republicans to put their money where their mouth is. No government subsidies to private industry, period. No exceptions. Why, then, when they get into office, do most of them support (or ignore) massive subsides to the nuclear industry? This week's guest post provides a possible answer. Last week we discussed how, in Vermont, Republicans & Democrats alike have gifted Entergy Corp. of Louisiana with the privilege of storing their waste on-site in a flood plain, without which the plant would have been unprofitable. Forced to shut down. We discussed how my opponent, Claire Ayer, cast the swing vote to allow Yankee to remain open, after consulting with an 'expert' and...
Part I of III As your candidate, I oppose government subsidies to private industry. The nuclear power industry is the most heavily subsidized power industry in history; therefore Vermont Yankee must go. The State subsidizes Yankee in many ways; from free surface water for cooling (I would tax it, as it's a public asset used privately), to a lucrative opportunity to pollute but pay no fines. This is my challenge to the Legislature. Stop subsidizing this aged power plant that is being run into the ground by its owner, Entergy Corporation in Louisiana. Stop playing games with your constituents, and with our futures. The USSR subsidized industry, and as a consequence wound up with heavily polluting old industries that eventually collapsed...
Vermont Liberty Candidate issues first campaign statement ... Vermont's farms, particularly our small farms, need new life, a new competitive edge. Not more regulation and price controls. Here's something concrete, positive and green that Vermont can do: grow industrial hemp. And why not! Hemp is a cheaper and better substitute for oil and the petrochemicals that come from oil... and the consumer products that today rely on oil. But Big Oil doesn't want you to even know that fact. They want you to think it's pot. They want no competition, and so it was easy to get a federal agency in far away Washington, DC to kill off the competition and declare industrial hemp a controlled substance. The good news is, an agency in DC is not the highest...
Friends, As of today your local Liberty Candidate is on the ballot for 2012 in Addison Senate District*. Officially. If you're in Addison I'll be doing my best to come out and see you. I will do my best to understand your concerns and hopes for the future... and act on them. In Vermont we have to gather a petition to get on the ballot, in our time-honored tradition of doing it yourself and getting it done. You put me on the ballot, and now you can put me into office. I'll do my best to earn that support. Between now and November is a long job interview, consisting of public forums and debates, and a bluegrass bash in the early Fall, bringing folks of all stripes together under the big tent. You're invited, stay tuned! For that's what it...
