Vermont Uncensored

Monsanto's recent victory in California over an initiative to label potentially dangerous foods that have been genetically engineered should be a rally cry for the Vermont Legislature. The time is now for Vermont to lead the way to help save the world from  mono culture. Mono culture can be used to describe what is happening in regards to globalization and our flora and fauna.            We are in the midst of a mass extinction, whether it is planned or by accident it is happening and as we eliminate the diversity of our plant and animal species we will be rendered extinct, and no amount of food science will save us. The earth takes care of itself and it will survive by killing all of us. As long as the dominant  culture holds those with...
Vermont Independence is a lofty goal for all. What does it mean? How will it work? These questions bother the skeptical and offer hot topics of debate for the believers in secession. Currently the arguments revolve around policy, platforms, and personage.     As far as I can tell we do not have all the answers for all the problems facing our small piece of the world. Many people outside the movement as well as SVR devotees know the problems, and  many solutions have been offered. What we have are alternatives to the failed policies currently being pushed down our throats by the Corporatocracy. We  are embracing a concept that has  had success elsewhere in the world. Our solutions may not be the same as those used in Switzerland,...
Ben Bernanke has added another 40 billion to the economy to help stimulate it proclaiming we need to borrow and spend to fix things. This is precisely the problem. We have borrowed and spent away our futures, only the money lenders have benefited from this debt slavery. The real solution is to save and share. Half of all Americans have credit issues, due to over borrowing and over spending. As a result new loans provided to them will bring interest rates of up to 25%. The banks will be will do cartwheels over these margins.     Cutting out the middle man is the solution. Forced purchases of health care, GMO seeds, nuclear energy, vaccines are all being offered as necessities when in fact it is just another way to keep the corporate...
Last night in South Burlington a presentation was given in support of placing the F35 killer jets at the Burlington airport. It was a public forum and hundreds of people turned out to speak. The first five speakers were a great promotion for secession. They consisted of representatives for Leahy, Sanders, Welch, Shumlin, and the Pope himself who overwhelmingly supported the noisy, polluting, life destroying profit making machines of Lockheed Martin. Never has a more focused group of corporate shills ever been presented to the Vermont public. At times during the speeches of these Lockheed Martin cheerleaders I could hear the star spangled banner playing in my head and it was all I could do not to burst out in song.        Supporters were...
The liberation of Vermont will bring many things. One will be equity in Justice. The Empire has evolved into a caste system where penalties for crimes are handed out according to wealth and social status. Aside from the occasional Bernie Madoff the elite have no fear of reprisal for crimes punishable by death or indefinite detention by the majority. Witness a recent Seymour Hirsch article that exposes Howard Dean, Arlen Spencer, Joe Lieberman, and John McCain as suspects in a meeting with the MEK a listed terrorist organization accused of assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists. Howard Dean was recently seen on TV virtually indicted himself calling for the need to take MEK off the list. This self-proclamation of guilt, to the crime of...
As the profit margins sink for the Military Industrial Complex  a new profit center is developing in Asia.  On the tiny Korean Island of Jeju a missile base is being constructed to guard against the Chinese threat.  Will China be obliged to aim some missiles   at the U.S.?  The prospect makes the war mongers on Wall Street giddy. A new threat more ominous than the Soviet Union will emerge. By God there are billions of those yellow bastards and they control our economy. (Racist military speak)  Jeju is a jewel in the China Sea. I have been there. Although it is a tourism spot it does not appear like Western resort islands. Unlike Western resort islands the locals have not been reduced to a starving slave class. This is all about to change...
Today I lost all hope I ever had that the citizens of the U.S. would be able to reject the culture of violence. A recent poll claimed  84% of the people thought drone strikes on terror suspects were OK. Another 79% said it was OK to kill Americans suspected of terror.  Really?  A few days ago, following a drone strike in Pakistan, people trying to recover the bodies of their loved ones were hit and killed with another drone strike. On the same day at a funeral another drone strike killed 84 attending, ten of whom were children. Excuse me if I am slightly off on the numbers but I am trembling with disgust for the people I call friends, people I work with, relatives, and the man who sells me my iced tea at the store. Why? Without asking...
Vermont Yankee, Hydro Fracking, Smart meters, GMO’s, and State and Federal Debt all signal the end of consumerism.  It was a good ride if you lived in countries like the U.S. but for those in Africa, South America, and other parts of the world it has been a horror.  Progress and growth has netted poverty and environmental degradation for those who were not exceptional. We were the winners and all others by the rules of the capitalist game were losers.    So what do nuclear power, gas drilling, GMO’s, and debt have to do with the end of consumerism?  We are broke. The criminals in charge of the world have realized that people like me can live the rest of their lives without buying another pair of pants, another car, computer, house, and...
Now that the troops have left Iraq many news reports are assessing our accomplishments. What did we achieve? What is our responsibility now? Can the Iraqi’s make it without us? Will the seeds of democracy grow? What have we learned from our mistakes in Iraq?          The result of our 20 year assault and occupation of Iraq was an almost total annihilation of a culture and its people. A country that  once grew 99% of all food consumed is now starving  and has seen huge swaths of top quality agricultural land  poisoned for a quarter of a million years with toxic military industrial waste.  Historically this has been one of the first steps in the U.S. arsenal for subduing a population. This military tactic started most famously with...
The fact that I ran for office is always a reason for someone at the thanksgiving table to ask my opinion of the current political situation. What do you think of the GOP candidates? What do you think of Obama?         My only regret knowing that the subject would arise is that I was not more prepared with a snappy response, something like this:          Obama is  killing innocent unarmed people with drones, overthrowing  democratically elected governments, training Central American  death squads, assassinating American citizens, giving free passes to human rights violators, torturing whistleblowers, allowing corporate executives to lie under oath before Congress, busting legal medical marijuana growers, forcing GMO’s on countries...
